How One Podcast Episode Changed My Perspective…. today.

Today I listened to The Ed Mylett Show podcast while at the gym.
This episode was his speech for his MAXOUT LIVE event.
And it changed my perspective in so many ways.
Ed is extremely open about his alcoholic dad. He talks about who his dad used to be and then who he became when he chose to become sober. In the middle of the night, Ed has a thought that changed things for him. Because one person walked through hell, that person was qualified to help Ed’s dad to remain sober. His dad continued to pay it forward. Check out the episode to hear more of his story.
I am that person too but in a different way.I have walked through hell with my weight and health. My physical and mental health took some major hits over the years.
He also taught me the power of ONE MORE. I am ordering the book The Power of One More ASAP to gain more knowledge (you should too).
I started my coaching business in March. I am still new but I have wanted to quit more times than I can count. At least 3 times per day, that is not an exaggeration.
But I am not going to, I am going to just give it ONE MORE day.
I am going to make ONE MORE phone call.
Take ONE MORE chance.
Reach out to just ONE MORE person.
Just keep aiming for that one more.
Set the standard of just one more in everything you do. That standard is what will allow you to evolve to the person you truly want to be.
Because there is someone out there who needs my care, support, and belief in them to change their life. For them to be able to show up for just ONE MORE for themselves.
This next thought and perspective I am going to talk about hit home big time for me. It will always be on my mind. It brought tears to my eyes.
Are you ready?
There are many forms of neglect in today’s world for kids:
Drugs
Alcohol
Our phones
But the one that got me was the neglect you show your kids by not chasing your dreams, by not going after what you want.
We tell our kids day in and day out that they can be whatever they want to be in this world. They can achieve anything that they set their mind to. It’s all true.
They can be anything they want to be in this world, so can you.
They can achieve anything that they set their minds to, so can you.
Are you showing your kids that?
Are you showing them what it’s like to be what you want to be in this world?
Are you showing them that you are achieving what you set your mind to?
Are you also showing them that it’s ok to fail because those failures are what help you to succeed?
These are deep questions. They can bring up some painful thoughts but I really want you to think about them..
I did.
I am chasing my dreams every day, even when I want to quit. That’s why I am here for you, writing this blog post.
This same concept applies to your health. You are neglecting your kids by not showing them that you are worth it. That you deserve to have good health, to live a healthy life. You matter to them. Your kids see your choices and mirror them.
Another deep question (last one. I promise.)
Do you want your kids to have the same habits you have now as adults?
I am here to help you make the changes you need to better yourself and your health. I am here to believe in you, to support you, to help hold yourself accountable.
